Cultural probes

Reverse knowledge exchange infrastructure

Traditional design research tools (personas, journey maps, empathy maps) centre Western analytical frameworks. These relational knowledge cards invert the power dynamic by requiring international researchers to learn Indonesian cosmological systems before engaging communities.

Our cards come from collective knowledge: Gabriella Manurung, Pak Tika, Adhi and I, the team at both ITB-Bandung and Udayana University, farmers, ITB students Wanda and Fata (final edition visualised by Teresa Inés Cruz) and all Indonesian knowledge holders that contributed to this project.

We invite you to download and work with them in your projects and send us a message if you want to be featured or contribute to their ongoing interations.
